Must Remember....

Memory: an organisms mental capability to store, retain, and recall information.
Faded pictures is all I have of you
Echoes of memories
A happy past lifetime
Lost amongst the wind
Could it be so many sunsets ago
I held you close to me
Was it but a fleeting moment
That our lives were meant to be
Once upon a time, I met this person, he was charming and loveable on the outside, but had no respect for himself on the inside. Naturally his outer facade was seen through and the world saw his ugliness. He reminds me of Dorian Gray. A part of me will always wish that this person will find himself before it's lost amongst the ruins and realize that life is about more than the superficial and that perfection is user defined.
On that note - sending all my love & fuzzy feelings to my one and only xoxo
A Bone to Pick...

I'm annoyed - and most people know I don't get annoyed easily.
I've recently noticed that there are some people who take a lot of things... and I mean A LOT of things for granted... one being friendship.
I wonder what gives people the right to think they can literally demand things of people without speaking with them first and then giving a nonchalant "if it happens, it happens, if it doesn't don't worry about it" response. That is plain selfish.
Just because some people are fine with assuming that their inconvenience does not bother other people does not mean that the inconvenience doesn't bother people. It may sound redundant, but really, think about it.
Why are some people so comfortable with making others make adjustments for them but never compromising on their end? They make people go out of the way for them, yet they do nothing in return.
Let's take for an example, if a friend invited you out to dinner for your birthday and you invite other people, do you assume that friend will pay for all your friends that tagged along? Would you even think it fair to ask such a stupid question? Sounds obvious - but apparently not to some.
Anyway, I can go on and on, but I don't want to point fingers - it is that Christmas time and if I'm going to be forgiving I should be extra forgiving around this time of year...
Spiralling

Once upon a time, there was a village with peaceful villagers, unafraid of the wars and violence of the rest of the world. In the middle of the night a deadly power ravaged the village. Homes were burnt down, children were terrorized, men and women taken into slavery. Those left in the city came together and built a wall around their small and vulnerable city. The gates were locked with an iron chain and the villages depended on themselves for everything. A long time passed and none were allowed to enter the little village. Until one day, what seemingly was a hero knocked and offered security and strength. The villagers embraced this hero and let him into the gates. There were merriments all over and the people rejoiced, for finally they felt safe once again. However, when all the villagers were fast asleep and the hero was supposed to be guarding the village, he casually left the gate opened and went for a stroll. On his stroll he found some splendid leaves and sat himself down for a smoke with his pipe. While he floated off into his own little world, the village was left to burn and all those that were left were now gone... The hero, returning in the morning found the village in ruins. Instead of trying to salvage what was left, he ran away. The village was never to be again.
I reached out and got no response. What I so fearfully said was lost amongst the echos of the unwanted voices. This feeling is beyond being deserted - at least you would know that someone left. This feeling is like pouring out your heart and letting go of the one thing that knots your stomach to the one person you wanted to make that feeling go away to begin with and having them not acknowledgeyou ever said a single word.
Brokeness complete.
Why do I keep opening that door to those who don't want in?
Why do I keep knocking at the doors that do not want to be opened?
Why do I keep hurting myself in hopes that that same wound no longer pains.
Pots of Fire
Set ablaze the fond memories of yesterday.
Set ablaze the predefined expectations.
Set ablaze the once upon a times.
Set ablaze the should haves would haves could haves.
What are these desires that won't go away?
What are these questions that circle?
What are these desires that won't go away?
What are these questions that circle?
Temet Nosce
so here's the thing, if the world won't change and you're bombarded with this nonsense, what can you do. Change Yourself.
The Oracle was right, to grow beyond the barriers of this world you must know thyself.
Obsession
Aristotle said: We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.
Aristotle was right.
Aristotle was right.
If you practice what you strive to be, without the disillusions of false pretenses,
you are likely to succeed.
I'm an idealist to a fault.
With idealism comes the desire for perfection.
Perfection, in turn, is intermingled with excellence.
For some, perfection and excellence are words of fantasy.
I have been on many occasions disappointed -
By myself, for wanting more than I am capable of.
By others, for seeing they are not giving their utmost.
Calculated Error
A Moment's Relief
He sat there, patiently listening, to the inconsistent run-on sentences that blurted out of my mouth.
He paid attention to all my vexations and remained focused.
There was no changing of topics, no avoidance of truth, just listening.
He gazed intently in my eyes as I fought tears.
In the silence he understood, for once he understood.
There in a moment's relief sparked recognition -
of a better future; a better life; a better us.
A second wind; a second cup to fill.
