An Enlightenment

How can children grow up to be respectable human beings if thei parents do not take the responsibility in ensuring their upbringing teaches them what respect is.

When everything in a child's life becomes an option or request there no longer exists standards and requirements.
This starts the slippery slope that they have the right to do as they please regardless of the consequences. I live with two kids who are starting to exhibit traits of two people who are going to be a menace to society instead of a positive contribution. It's sad when one of the parents who should act as a role model is nothing but a free loader with no goals or plans in life except to be a leach. We definitely need less of those in this already chaotic world.

Has Been

Dear Doug,

You're one of my favorite Sports Columnist - but really, can we drop the Vince Carter talks.
The reality is he is a HAS BEEN.  You can all disagree with me all you want but I think it's the truth.  I'm not saying he's not talented.  I'm saying he's a WASTE of talent.  He's had the chance(s) to be something amazing, but he even openly admits that he just wants to be mediocre.

“There are countless ways of attaining greatness, but any road to reaching one's maximum potential must be built on a bedrock of respect for the individual, a commitment to excellence, and a rejection of mediocrity.”
Buck Rogers

I will be at the Orlando game to continue booing him, not because of what he did to Toronto, but because of what he isn't as a basketball player.  He embarrases the whole league when he implies he doesn't care that the fans have paid to see him perform with his lack of interest and passion for the game.  BOO TO YOU VC!!

Sequel to Phantom

I must be dreaming.

but
Love Never Dies looks like it's going to hit Toronto in 2010!!!!

And to
Mr. Webber, PLEASE get well soon.

You're a legend that can't be lost.

Stomp

you want a RACKET with rhythm??
You need to see Stomp.
They were amazing 12 years ago...
They were amazing today!

I want to get paid to cling cling clang!!!

The Lost Symbol

I must say....
A feeble attempt at connecting religion(s) to science.
I appreciate Brown's attempt, but this book was far more predictable than the rest of his other writings.
I had figured out the entire story about 1/3 into the book and to my dismay was absolutely right about it....
I hope the next book is more interesting than this one.

However, here are some facts:
Freemasons
Ancient Mystery
Sir Isaac Newton
Circumpunct
Laus Deo at Washington DC

2.5/5 Simply because I was bored and the concepts were unoriginal and not creative.  I felt like I was reading a 500 page religious lecture.  The Da Vinci code at least kept my attention.

Acceptance and Understanding

Hey there chorus line
Singing me a lullaby
You cannot be heard here
I am lost in a secular paradise
Hey there harp players
Strumming me a love song
You are lost amongst the clatter
My superfluous happy time
Hey there guardian angel
Sitting on my shoulder
You have no guiding light
Amongst my blinding darkness
Hey there Alpha and Omega
Waiting patiently for my response
Keep pushing me for an answer
I'll soon be brave enough
I have rediscovered God, in the darkest and most obscene moment of my life - the same moments that I had once lost Him.  I was alone, cold, fighting an impossibility; myself and the demons that convinced me that I am not worthy.  Just for a glimpse, He appeared, long enough for me to take a meaningful breath.  I never did stop knowing He was there, I just stopped being there for Him.  I had forsaken Him trying to hide my guilt in non-belief.  It didn't work.
Still though - religion binds me to a dark reality and I am unable to process the demands... That's not exactly a cup-o-tea conversation, so let's just not have it at all....for now.

Stupid Driver Finally Caught

So the junction at the Sheppard exit of the 401/404 area has a really wide right shoulder...
Today I was in the car with a friend and we were severely cut off by a guy driving a dark blue Mazda 3 from the left.  My friend honked at him though there was no response from this man.  Not even a gesture to apologize.  He then cut into the right lane which was ending and turning into the shoulder and pulled through to exit Sheppard.

HOWEVER...

He ran straight into 2 cop cars patrolling for people doing exactly as he was doing and was pulled over and given a ticket.  I wasn't allowed to roll down the window and scream SUCKER SERVES YOU RIGHT but that's exactly how I felt.

So to the man in the blue Mazda cutting people off on the highway - HA HA HA YOU JUST MADE MY DAY!!!!

Really?!?!

Last time I checked I lived in Canada.
Last time I checked, we have 4 seasons (supposedly).
At the least we know it snows here and we know it can get hot (although this summer was trying to prove a point)
So why then has there been a FROST WARNING in RED for the last 2 days in Toronto.
When did it become a "severe weather conditions" that we need to be warned of frost?
Now - if this isn't the media making every mediocrity too dramatic, I don't know what is...
C'mon people - it's just really cold water.
Relax already.

Boys in the Photograph

Simply said - not impressed.
Perhaps I already had a long day prior, but did not enjoy it very much.
Performers were very talented.
Base story a real issue, but the story LINE... well that was bad.
I might have made the mistake of reading the reviews before going, but I agree with them.
Lacked character connection.
Lacked the depth of the issue.
Sets were mediocre at best.
I give it 2/5 stars as well.

The Lost Symbol

About 1/4 way through - there are 133 chapters... I'm on 42 or something like that??
Interesting so far - but hasn't caught my attention like the Da Vinci code did - perhaps I already realize that I'll be chasing a labyrinth of codes before finding out what I already expect at the end.  Either way, quite entertaining... Just not enough time in a day.

I think my next read will definitely be a biography of someone... interesting.  Like Einstein or Leonardo Da Vinci.
