You Really Wanna Know What Love Is...

Watch the Blindside

and read about Michael Jerome Oher in the The Blindside: Evolution of the Game

I'm a football fan, but this story - it's more than just a good football player being found in the ghetto... It's what humanity can be like.

Don't care what the review said - but I liked the movie very much.

FML

As if my life isn't f***ed up enough.
Here's tonight's addition to make sure that it is.
1L bottle of water somehow opens spills all over my bed only to have me wondering why I felt pins and needles all over my leg just as it soaked through all my blankets and my mattress. (Yes I am well aware that this previous sentence was a run on, error filled sentence - I don't effing care.)
So tonight, I am sleeping on the floor, with no blankets, no pillow and something I would consider a yoga mat and for yoga only as a mattress so my bed can dry.
Seriously - I thought there would be a threshold to these types of trickeries in one's life... but I am a full believer that I am this lifetime's biggest joke.
There are honestly moments when I wish this was it and tomorrow, I will wake up a butterfly.... or anything but me.

Reminiscing

Day by Day the air grows colder
Night after Night the shadows stretch further
Moment by Moment this heart grows weaker
Wondering why it ever wanted to feel again

The childhood grin outgrown by yesterdays
Hopes and dreams of tomorrow died with good byes
Believing in goodness of humanity
Still clenched by innocent naivety

Why has love become a nonchalance
Cast aside like it doesn't matter
When did the butterflies flutter away
So the hearts of this world won't feel again

Either Way...

I can deal with attention deficit.
I can deal with multi-tasking something of importance.
Can't however... deal with not even being able to be given the time of day for 2 minutes.
If at all important, it should be glaringly obvious.

30 Days

... 由 這 一 分 鐘 我 一 生 就 只 有 您 (From this minute on, I live my life for you)
... 明 日 縱 使 不 堪 阻 不 到 我 用 心 愛 您 (No matter how bad tomorrow is, it won't stop me from loving you)
... 讓 我 終 於 都 明 瞭 明 白 您 比 生 死 重 要  (finally realize that you are more important than life or death)
....讓 我 終 於 不 動 搖 這 改 變 因 您, 原 諒 我 卻 試 過 傷 害 您 (It is you who's made me want to change; forgive me for ever trying to hurt you)

Remember the Time?

Do you remember the last Christmas that Santa was real?
Or the tooth fairy would grant you a dollar for your baby teeth?
How about when the twinkle of the stars was no longer Neverland happy thoughts
And when Prince Charming didn't rescue Snow White because she wasn't asleep

It appears... every happily ever after must die; and die must every happy soul.

V-I-C-T-O-R-Y

Down by 22...
Win by 15...

WHO WANTS A VICTORYYYYY???

And... sorry CP4 - your team's sh** outta luck now.

Need to Finish

Just before I lost internet access which was mid into the 4th quarter we were leading by 2.
How then in 6 minutes did we manage to let the Spurs open up such a big lead?

Overall the Raptors are a pretty strong team this year, but how about closing out games and not blowing leads???  We could have argued in the past that we just didn't have the strength nor talent, but having a 9-man roster change, I don't think that can be the excuse any more.  This time around, BC has put together one of the best teams for Toronto - it's time for the team to step up.

A 32-10 night by CB4 should be obvious that we should have landed in the W column....

Scrappy, Lost 17 Pt Lead, But A Win

AMAZING behind the shoulder pass by Jack to Il Mago!!

A little worried about how they're playing through games, blowing double digit leads and letting a team that's missing their 2 key players to climb back to a 1-point lead.
Glad they closed this one out, but for a team who averages 87 points/game, we let 99 go.
Yes, we can score, but the resounding story is can we defend?
I'm seeing glimpses of awesome from Turk though as he & Bosh continue to learn each other's moves.  He had some nice dishes.
Our bench players put on a great show - hope they continue to improve and become a defensive presence as they showed last night.

Recommendations:
Start Jarrett Jack, Jose is too comfortable as the starter and isn't doing all the things a starting PG should be doing.  a) Creating Plays b) Defending c) Scoring
Give Antoine Wright the start instead of the Rookie - DeRozen needs to earn his place and so far, he's not doing that.  He's not bad, he's just not great.

Bus Drivers.... #*@&^!!!

Yield to Bus Law

Just because there's a law for buses doesn't mean you should be abusing it!
Being at the "stop" at a red light and trying to cut off the car that's beside you isn't what the law entitles you to do.  There are the words "yield and safely" included and neither of those apply if there is not enough space for you to get back into flowing traffic.

Mr. Bus Driver stop cutting me off because you drive a big hunk of metal.
This (along with other reasons) is why nobody wants to let you in!!!
I am categorizing you with the Stupid Drivers!

Stupid Drivers

Short but true story.

Off Hwy 7 going west, in left lane.
Turn signal on to get into middle lane.
Lady in middle lane comes to dead stop beside me and blares horn at me.
I have yet to  move from my lane.
She finally drives pass and starts frantically waving her hands at me.
I get behind her she slams on the brakes.
I had to veer into the right lane to avoid her.

Stupid Driver.

Jersey Boys

Frankie Valli (not with a Y with an "i"!), Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito, Nick Massi.
Blue collar boys who hit it BIG.
Very interesting story of how they came to be, the struggles they went through and their final triumph to success - a story from each of the 4 boys' perspective.

If you want to check them out, go here

1-2 Not What I expected

It is a little disappointing that we've lost 2 games in a row in which Bosh has had over 30 points and has had a double-double in both outings.

35 Points, 16 rbs followed by a 25 point effort by Il Mago and the team shooting 54.1% shouldn't have led to a loss but alas the same resounding issue - where is the defense?

I hope this is a matter of cohesion of this team because after such an up-side down turn in the off season and obtaining some key players, we should be better than this.  WAY BETTER.

An Enlightenment

How can children grow up to be respectable human beings if thei parents do not take the responsibility in ensuring their upbringing teaches them what respect is.

When everything in a child's life becomes an option or request there no longer exists standards and requirements.
This starts the slippery slope that they have the right to do as they please regardless of the consequences. I live with two kids who are starting to exhibit traits of two people who are going to be a menace to society instead of a positive contribution. It's sad when one of the parents who should act as a role model is nothing but a free loader with no goals or plans in life except to be a leach. We definitely need less of those in this already chaotic world.

Has Been

Dear Doug,

You're one of my favorite Sports Columnist - but really, can we drop the Vince Carter talks.
The reality is he is a HAS BEEN.  You can all disagree with me all you want but I think it's the truth.  I'm not saying he's not talented.  I'm saying he's a WASTE of talent.  He's had the chance(s) to be something amazing, but he even openly admits that he just wants to be mediocre.

“There are countless ways of attaining greatness, but any road to reaching one's maximum potential must be built on a bedrock of respect for the individual, a commitment to excellence, and a rejection of mediocrity.”
Buck Rogers

I will be at the Orlando game to continue booing him, not because of what he did to Toronto, but because of what he isn't as a basketball player.  He embarrases the whole league when he implies he doesn't care that the fans have paid to see him perform with his lack of interest and passion for the game.  BOO TO YOU VC!!

Sequel to Phantom

I must be dreaming.

but
Love Never Dies looks like it's going to hit Toronto in 2010!!!!

And to
Mr. Webber, PLEASE get well soon.

You're a legend that can't be lost.

Stomp

you want a RACKET with rhythm??
You need to see Stomp.
They were amazing 12 years ago...
They were amazing today!

I want to get paid to cling cling clang!!!

The Lost Symbol

I must say....
A feeble attempt at connecting religion(s) to science.
I appreciate Brown's attempt, but this book was far more predictable than the rest of his other writings.
I had figured out the entire story about 1/3 into the book and to my dismay was absolutely right about it....
I hope the next book is more interesting than this one.

However, here are some facts:
Freemasons
Ancient Mystery
Sir Isaac Newton
Circumpunct
Laus Deo at Washington DC

2.5/5 Simply because I was bored and the concepts were unoriginal and not creative.  I felt like I was reading a 500 page religious lecture.  The Da Vinci code at least kept my attention.

Acceptance and Understanding

Hey there chorus line
Singing me a lullaby
You cannot be heard here
I am lost in a secular paradise
Hey there harp players
Strumming me a love song
You are lost amongst the clatter
My superfluous happy time
Hey there guardian angel
Sitting on my shoulder
You have no guiding light
Amongst my blinding darkness
Hey there Alpha and Omega
Waiting patiently for my response
Keep pushing me for an answer
I'll soon be brave enough
I have rediscovered God, in the darkest and most obscene moment of my life - the same moments that I had once lost Him.  I was alone, cold, fighting an impossibility; myself and the demons that convinced me that I am not worthy.  Just for a glimpse, He appeared, long enough for me to take a meaningful breath.  I never did stop knowing He was there, I just stopped being there for Him.  I had forsaken Him trying to hide my guilt in non-belief.  It didn't work.
Still though - religion binds me to a dark reality and I am unable to process the demands... That's not exactly a cup-o-tea conversation, so let's just not have it at all....for now.

Stupid Driver Finally Caught

So the junction at the Sheppard exit of the 401/404 area has a really wide right shoulder...
Today I was in the car with a friend and we were severely cut off by a guy driving a dark blue Mazda 3 from the left.  My friend honked at him though there was no response from this man.  Not even a gesture to apologize.  He then cut into the right lane which was ending and turning into the shoulder and pulled through to exit Sheppard.

HOWEVER...

He ran straight into 2 cop cars patrolling for people doing exactly as he was doing and was pulled over and given a ticket.  I wasn't allowed to roll down the window and scream SUCKER SERVES YOU RIGHT but that's exactly how I felt.

So to the man in the blue Mazda cutting people off on the highway - HA HA HA YOU JUST MADE MY DAY!!!!

Really?!?!

Last time I checked I lived in Canada.
Last time I checked, we have 4 seasons (supposedly).
At the least we know it snows here and we know it can get hot (although this summer was trying to prove a point)
So why then has there been a FROST WARNING in RED for the last 2 days in Toronto.
When did it become a "severe weather conditions" that we need to be warned of frost?
Now - if this isn't the media making every mediocrity too dramatic, I don't know what is...
C'mon people - it's just really cold water.
Relax already.

Boys in the Photograph

Simply said - not impressed.
Perhaps I already had a long day prior, but did not enjoy it very much.
Performers were very talented.
Base story a real issue, but the story LINE... well that was bad.
I might have made the mistake of reading the reviews before going, but I agree with them.
Lacked character connection.
Lacked the depth of the issue.
Sets were mediocre at best.
I give it 2/5 stars as well.

The Lost Symbol

About 1/4 way through - there are 133 chapters... I'm on 42 or something like that??
Interesting so far - but hasn't caught my attention like the Da Vinci code did - perhaps I already realize that I'll be chasing a labyrinth of codes before finding out what I already expect at the end.  Either way, quite entertaining... Just not enough time in a day.

I think my next read will definitely be a biography of someone... interesting.  Like Einstein or Leonardo Da Vinci.
