30 Chick Flicks in 30 Days
I was about to change the radio station when this topic came up, but I couldn't be bothered and glad I left it.
In summary a married couple (real story) went on this venture to watch 30 chick flicks in a month. I thought the consensus from the guy (who was interviewed) would be that overall they were cheesy and too stereotypical. But he saw past Hollywood, which was a breath of fresh air.
He concluded that to maintain a success relationship you need 3 key factors (amongst the obvious ones)
1) Forgiveness - not just between man and woman, but in life
2) Vulnerablility - allowing yourself to love so much that you let the other person (now talking about the relationship) to enter 100% into your heart so that you let them love you and in turn, risk being hurt by them too. But without this vulnerability you will never truly learn to be a part of something
3) Friendship - this one quite straight forward
It was nice to hear it from the guy who actually said by sharing these 30 days with his wife, he's managed to turn into a better man. He said his wife has noticed that he's no longer doing the things that hurt her, is more attentive - listens well - and funnily - has become a better kiss because he's aware of her non-vocal signs.
I guess it's nice to know that a seemingly stupid social experience could help improve a marriage.
There is hope for love afterall.
